Zambian President, Hakainde Hichilema is set to spearhead mining dialogue with a keynote address after he confirmed he will attend the high level event in Cape Town, South Africa.
The event will be held from 5th to 7th February. The theme for Mining Indaba 2024 is “Embracing the power of positive disruption: A bold new future for African Mining,”
The theme Perfectly aligns with Zambia’s re-emergence as a preferred mining investment destination and showcases how positive disruption can lead to favorable outcomes.
The high level event will gather over 8000 attendees with more than 900 investors. At the same time, it will attract more than 700 executive from mining companies. Moreover, over 470 executive juniors from companies around the world will also attend.
On the other hand, Mining Indaba offers unique opportunities for exploring Zambia’s achievements and the strategies behind their success.
Zambian President is set to deliver a keynote address at Mining Indaba 2024. The address will demonstrate his unwavering dedication to revitalizing his country’s mining sector. More so in delivering jobs and economic growth to the people of Zambia.
Zambian President will be attending the event for a second year. He will further indulge to delve into the future of mining in Zambia.
At the same time, he will outline his plans to expand copper production and position the country as a major player in the global mining industry – particularly with regards to copper.
Zambian President will use the opportunity to explore the potential for collaboration between the government, industry stakeholders, and investors. Furthermore, he will highlight the need for partnerships to drive innovation and maximize the sector’s socio-economic benefits.

In 2023, Indaba increased GDP in South Africa. With 80% coming from international sources. The event also generated 323 full-time annual job equivalents in the country as well as increasing national taxes
In 2024, the event will celebrate its 30th anniversary. Additionally, the anniversary will honour how far the industry has come. It will also discover what the future holds for Africa’s mining industry.
