Walking for a Purpose, Stand Up for Epilepsy
Ms. Mothibatsela said, “We must all walk for a purpose and stand up for people leaving with epilepsy. That is our challenge for 2025. We must think deeply about how we handle people living with the condition in our workplaces, homes, and schools. We want Botswana to start and lead real conversations about awareness and education in all spaces.”
Ms. Mothibatsela further called on all sectors to act, including government, schools, private companies, and health workers. “I encourage all employers to include epilepsy awareness in their workplaces. This will help support affected employees.”
The event theme, “WALKING FOR A PURPOSE, STAND UP FOR EPILEPSY,” aims to inspire people to show care and understanding.
Debswana employees joined the walk, showing their strong support for the epilepsy community and public health campaigns. The event aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 on health and well-being for all.
Ms. Mothibatsela’s speech reminded everyone that this type of condition needs everyone’s support and attention. She ended with a call to action for Botswana to lead by example in promoting health, equality, and compassion.
