The 2024 Annual Meetings of the Board of Governors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) have kicked off in Nairobi, Kenya. The event is scheduled to run from May 27th to 31st at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
This marks the 59th meeting of the AfDB Board of Governors and the 50th meeting of the African Development Fund Board of Governors.
The theme of the event is “Africa’s Transformation, the African Development Bank Group, and the Reform of the Global Financial Architecture.”
This theme reflects the recognition that, despite sustained economic growth over the past two decades, Africa’s economic transformation is still a work in progress, with much remaining to be done.
Therefore, participants will discuss strategies, policies, and interventions aimed at creating the “Africa we want.” They will also address the slow pace of transformation in Africa, and identify key challenges and opportunities.
Several topics covering agriculture and agro-industries, climate change, economic and financial governance, education, and energy will be addressed.
