STIHL to Launch Battery-Powered Technology

STIHL East Africa is set to introduce a range of battery-powered products in the East African market as part of its first-year anniversary celebration in the region.

According to Francois Marais, the Managing Director of STIHL East Africa, this strategic decision seeks to meet the rising demand for eco-friendly energy solutions in response to the pressing global climate change issues.

“We are very excited to be introducing Battery-operated tools in the East African Market, the tools are more sustainable, and they do not rely on fossil fuel.

“They also do not produce carbon emissions and are less noisy. Battery-operated tools also require less maintenance because they do not have as many parts to service,” Marais said during the company’s first year anniversary celebrations.

Among the battery-powered tools that the company will offer in the East African market are chainsaws, brushcutters, hedge trimmers, lawn mowers, sprayers, and blowers, among a variety of others.

“As a company, sustainability is a key aspect of our brand, the battery powered products will have a positive impact on the environment, reducing carbon emissions,” Marais added.

STIHL Pioneering Journey in Battery-Powered Tools

The STIHL Group embarked on its battery-operated tool success journey in 2009 when it introduced the first of its kind, the STIHL HSA 65 and STIHL HSA 85 hedge trimmers.

STIHL is responsible for the manufacturing of both the tools and their accompanying battery packs and chargers.

The company has remained committed to relentless development in battery technology, striving for the best in output, performance, and weight.

Today, the STIHL product lineup boasts an impressive product lineup of over 50 battery-operated tools catering to both private consumers and professionals.

While giving her remarks, Lucia Ayanda, Product Manager said that they are also set to introduce cutting-edge battery technology to the Eastern African Market.

“The latest innovations from STIHL include the STIHL MSA 300 professional chainsaw, the most powerful battery-operated chainsaw currently available on the market. STIHL developed the AP 500 S battery pack especially for this tool.

“The pack offers outstanding performance at a low weight, as well as double the number of possible charging cycles, which significantly increases battery life span than conventional lithium-ion batteries,” added Ayanda.
