PBR Life Sciences Secures $1M to Expand AI-Driven Healthcare Analytics Across Africa

PBR Life Sciences has raised $1 million in pre-seed funding to grow its AI-powered healthcare analytics platform in Africa. The company, founded by Ayodeji Alaran, plans to scale operations in Nigeria and expand to Ghana and Kenya.

Investors like Launch Africa, Microtraction, Kaleo Ventures, and Techstars supported the funding round. This investment will help PBR Life Sciences improve its data-as-a-service platforms and drive innovation in healthcare.

Bridging Healthcare Data Gaps in Emerging Markets

The company specializes in big data and analytics for healthcare. It provides real-world healthcare data to pharmaceutical companies, startups, and research institutions.

Ayodeji Alaran, a former GSK and Pfizer executive, founded the company in 2021. He pivoted to healthcare analytics after noticing gaps in the industry.

“Being backed by some of the most reputable venture capital investors and angels in Africa not only inspires us as a team to do more but further validates the vital need to close the gap of inadequate real-world, healthcare big data that will power AI and innovation for the sector whilst unlocking global life sciences growth that will be powered by the region,” said Alaran.

PBR Life Sciences offers insights into pricing, forecasting, disease treatment, and healthcare financing. It aims to close data gaps in Africa and emerging markets by 2030.

Poised for Growth in a Booming Industry

The healthcare market in Africa, Asia, and Latin America is growing rapidly. Emerging markets often see growth rates of 8-10% annually. Yet, these regions lack sufficient real-world big data for effective planning and research.

“With this fresh capital, we are now well positioned to achieve our ambitious growth plan, with a laser focus on profitability,” said Alaran.

The company’s AI-driven platform uses anonymized healthcare data to drive insights for clients in Africa and beyond. PBR Life Sciences was part of the ARM Labs Lagos Techstars Accelerator program, which helped refine its business model.

This funding will help PBR Life Sciences strengthen its position as a leader in healthcare analytics in Africa and other emerging markets.
