Ethio telecom and Innovation Ministry join forces to boost e-government, Smart City projects, and Digital Ethiopia 2025 goals.

Ethiopia is advancing its digital transformation through a partnership between Ethio telecom and the Ministry of Innovation and Technology.

This collaboration aims to enhance digital services, e-government, and Smart City projects, driving the Digital Ethiopia 2025 strategy.

Dr. Belete Molla, the Minister of Innovation and Technology, led discussions with Ethio telecom CEO, Frehiwot Tamiru. The meeting focused on strategies to improve digital accessibility and inclusion.

Ethio telecom’s Role in Ethiopia’s Digital Future

Dr. Belete praised Ethio telecom as “a national pride and pivotal force in the Digital Ethiopia 2025 journey.” He highlighted its achievements in digital services and the telebirr platform. He also outlined plans to expand digital accessibility in key sectors like e-commerce, e-government, and startups.

Frehiwot Tamiru showcased Ethio telecom’s efforts to build digital infrastructure, especially in rural areas. She emphasized its contributions to agriculture, health, education, and Smart City projects.

The delegation toured Ethio telecom’s Experience Center and praised the company’s ability to adapt to modern demands.

Joint Platform for Citizen-Centered Innovations

Both institutions agreed to create a joint platform to accelerate citizen-centered innovations. This initiative aims to drive Ethiopia’s digital transformation and support international expansion.
