Cameroon’s state-owned telecom company, Camtel, has approved a record-breaking budget of CFA 326.2 billion for 2025. This ambitious plan focuses on upgrading network infrastructure and improving customer service.
The budget includes funds for installing new antennas and modernizing equipment. These upgrades aim to meet the growing demand from Camtel’s expanding customer base.
Three-Year Strategic Plan Announced
Camtel’s board has also revealed a three-year strategic roadmap called the Performance Program 2025-2027. This plan seeks to diversify services, enhance efficiency, and promote transparency.
The company plays a key role in Cameroon’s telecom industry. It operates the national fiber-optic backbone, providing services to both customers and competitors like Orange Cameroon and MTN Cameroon.
Despite criticism over service quality, Camtel has shown financial resilience. Its revenue has nearly doubled in five years, from CFA 108 billion in 2018 to CFA 207 billion in 2023.
The company’s capital also grew significantly, from CFA 67 billion to CFA 117 billion during the same period.

Profitability Remains Strong
Camtel recorded a net profit of CFA 11 billion in 2023. Out of this, CFA 4 billion was transferred to the public treasury.
These financial results highlight Camtel’s strength and commitment to improving Cameroon’s digital landscape.
With its 2025 budget and strategic roadmap, Camtel aims to cement its role as a leader in telecommunications. The company is set to address customer needs and contribute to the country’s technological growth.
