BCG X, the tech division of Boston Consulting Group (BCG), has launched a new AI Science Institute to speed up discovery.
The institute combines artificial intelligence with deep industry and academic knowledge to unlock faster scientific and engineering breakthroughs. It is backed by more than 3,000 professionals, including over 200 PhDs, who bring world-class expertise.
The BCG X AI Science Institute will focus on using AI in research and development across industries and governments.
It aims to shorten R&D timelines and create next-generation solutions for complex global challenges.
The Institute will merge domain expertise with AI to develop innovations in health, energy, climate, and technology.

Africa’s Role in Global Scientific Breakthroughs
Hamid Maher, Head of BCG X Africa, said, “Africa is home to world-class scientific minds and unique innovation ecosystems.”
He added, “By harnessing AI to accelerate scientific discovery, we have a historic opportunity to address critical challenges.”
He continued, “From climate resilience to public health and energy systems—while contributing African expertise to global breakthroughs.”
Globally, the institute will be led by Dr. Adi Zolotov and Director Dr. Leonid Zhukov.
They will explore advanced fields like quantum computing, next-generation computing, simulation, and machine learning. The Institute will also focus on healthcare, bioinformatics, and climate analytics to find faster solutions.
BCG X plans to collaborate closely with universities and industry leaders to drive high-impact discoveries.
