Axian Telecom Joins EQUALS to Promote Gender Equality in Tech

Axian Telecom is now part of EQUALS – The Global Partnership for Gender Equality in the Digital Age. EQUALS is a global network striving to bridge the gender gap in tech access, skills, and leadership.

This initiative was led by UN Women and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). It includes over 100 partners globally, and their shared goal is to achieve gender equality in technology by 2030.

By joining EQUALS, Axian Telecom aims to learn from global best practices and shared experiences. They will enhance their team’s skills through expert research and develop new partnerships.

These efforts will help create and improve initiatives for gender equality in the tech industry.

Axian Telecom’s Commitment to Digital Gender Inclusion

Axian Telecom has a strong commitment to digital gender inclusion in its markets. They actively empower girls and women through various STEM and mobile internet programs.

One notable program is the Jovia Program in Tanzania, which is expanding to Uganda in partnership with Apps&Girls. This program has already trained over 300 young women in digital skills.

Additionally, Axian Telecom collaborates with UN Women in Tanzania on the African Girls Can Code Initiative. This project focuses on teaching coding skills to young women.

In Togo, the Dagan Connectée program provides digital skills and entrepreneurship training to 100 women. Furthermore, the Inspire the Future Program in Ivory Coast offers secondary school scholarships for young girls interested in STEM, in partnership with KS Africa.

These initiatives highlight Axian Telecom’s dedication to fostering gender equality in the digital age. By joining EQUALS, Axian Telecom takes a significant step towards empowering women in technology across Africa.
