Johannesburg, South Africa, will play host to a gathering of over 200 policymakers, tourism experts, innovators, and changemakers from across Africa for the Airbnb Africa travel summit.
This event will serve as a platform for these participants to engage in discussions, foster innovation, and promote collaboration in the pursuit of constructing an inclusive and sustainable tourism sector on the continent.
Besides, Africa travel summit represents Airbnb’s dedication to creating a more inclusive tourism economy, and it aims to facilitate partnerships between the government and private sectors to collectively address and overcome entrenched obstacles to entry and inequality within the industry.
Velma Corcoran, Airbnb’s Regional Lead for the Middle East and Africa, emphasised the importance of the Africa Travel Summit in supporting the ongoing recovery and expansion of the tourism industry

Africa Travel Summit to promote Tourism
The summit, moderated by Afua Osei, co-founder of She Leads Africa, will feature over 20 speakers and panellists who will delve into discussions regarding the important roles of tourism and technology in driving inclusive and sustainable economic empowerment and growth across the continent.
The speakers include notable figures, such as Bankole Oluwafemi, the founder of TechCabal, and Juliette Langlais, the Director of Public Policy and Campaigns for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Airbnb, among other distinguished individuals.
Each speaker and delegate is expected to contribute their unique perspectives, drawing from their personal experiences, research insights, and expertise.
Their collective aim is to shed light on the most effective approaches to harnessing the synergy between travel and technology, ultimately steering the tourism sector towards a more inclusive and sustainable future.
