Namibia to Host Major Nuclear Science and Technology Conference

The Cabinet of Namibia, led by President Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, has approved the hosting of the 2nd Nuclear Science and Technology Conference. The Cabinet made the decision during its 13th meeting on August 6th, 2024.

The conference will take place from October 23rd to 25th, 2024. It will focus on the theme, “Unlocking the Potential of Nuclear Science and Technology for Namibia’s Development.” This event will highlight how nuclear science and technology can drive economic growth in Namibia.

Namibia’s Growing Role in Nuclear Energy

The conference aims to gather stakeholders and align them with a shared vision. The goal is to fully harness the potential of nuclear energy in Namibia. Industry leaders, policymakers, and international experts will participate in this significant event.

Hon. Emma Theofelus, the Minister of Information and Communication Technology, announced the Cabinet’s decision.

She stressed the importance of the conference in positioning Namibia as a global leader in nuclear energy. According to her, the objectives include exploring how nuclear science can boost national economies.

Additionally, the event will focus on uniting the industry with a common strategy to maximize nuclear energy’s potential in Namibia.

“The Objectives of the conference are to consider the role of nuclear science and technology in the development of economies of nations and mobilize industry and stakeholders for a common vision and strategy to fully realize the potential of nuclear energy industry in Namibia.”

This event marks Namibia’s ongoing commitment to advanced technologies for sustainable development. As the country gears up to host this prominent gathering, expectations are high.
