Verdant Capital has been ranked joint second in the 2023 DealMakers Africa Awards for both East Africa and Pan-Africa regions.
This is the fourth year in a row that the firm has ranked in the top three in East Africa. The Dealmakers Africa Award Gala took place on Friday, March 15, 2024, in Lagos, Nigeria.
DealMakers is the leading league table agency for mergers and acquisitions across Africa. Verdant Capital was recognized for its strong deal flow in 2023 across several African regions.

Strong Presence Across Africa and Beyond
The firm also ranked joint second in the pan-Africa (excluding South Africa) category. This marks the third year that Verdant Capital has been in the top five in Pan-Africa rankings.
It completed major M&A and private capital transactions in East, West, Central, and Southern Africa. The firm maintained its ranking despite global market volatility and economic challenges in various countries.
“This consistency is a testament to the quality of the support it provides its clients and its tenacity,” the awards statement read.
In 2023, Verdant Capital advised on the sale of Unguka Bank in Rwanda. It also worked on an acquisition in South Africa for Saint Gobain, a top 100 global industrial group.
Additionally, the firm advised five clients on raising debt and equity capital for business growth. Its cross-border M&A work was supported by its IMAP membership, a global M&A network.
IMAP includes firms in over 40 countries and completes more than 200 deals each year. The firm also received awards from Africa Global Funds for its work with private equity.
Verdant Capital won “Best Independent Advisory Firm – pan-Africa” and “Best Advisory Firm to Private Equity.” These awards highlight the firm’s success in helping private equity firms exit and invest in African markets.
