Djibouti Unveils TO7 Technology Park, Boosting East Africa’s Digital Future

Djibouti has launched the TO7 Technology Park, a groundbreaking initiative strengthening its role as a digital leader in East Africa.

The park includes a Tier 3 Carrier-Neutral Data Center, a Cable Landing Station, and an Innovation Center. The project is expected to create jobs, attract investments, and drive technological growth in the region.

President Ismail Omar Guelleg presided over the opening, joined by Ministers, Ambassadors, and local and international leaders. The TO7 Technology Park promises to support Djibouti’s vision of becoming a regional ICT hub.

State-of-the-Art Facilities Transform Connectivity

The Tier 3 Data Center provides 99.982% uptime, ensuring reliability for businesses and governments. It supports critical digital services and economic growth.

The Cable Landing Station strengthens Djibouti’s connectivity to Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. This boosts the country’s role as a telecommunications hub.

The Innovation Center offers modern workspaces and technology to support startups and entrepreneurs. It will help nurture local talent and innovation.

Nicholas Lodge, Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Wingu, emphasized the park’s importance. “We are excited to witness the launch of the TO7 Technology Park, which will serve as a catalyst for Djibouti’s digital economy.

This park not only provides world-class infrastructure but also fosters innovation, job creation, and economic growth. It is an important step toward positioning Djibouti as a leader in the global tech space, and we are proud to be part of this journey.”

Catalyst for Economic Growth

The TO7 Technology Park will drive progress in sectors like education, healthcare, and business. It also encourages international partnerships and investments.

Wingu’s commitment to Djibouti’s digital transformation is evident in its decade-long data center operations. “The new data center complements Wingu’s existing data center in Djibouti which has been operating successfully for over a decade and brings for the first time an integrated carrier-neutral facility incorporating both data center and cable landing station; ideally suited to modern cable systems which require open-access and seamless interconnectivity,” said Lodge.

The TO7 Technology Park marks a major milestone in East Africa’s digital evolution, ensuring long-term benefits for Djibouti and beyond.
