PalmPay, a top financial platform with over 30 million users, has launched a USSD code to enhance access to its services.
The new service allows Nigerians to manage their finances without internet access by dialing *861# on their mobile phones.
The company, which has been in operation since 2019, offers a range of financial services. These include money transfers, bill payments, credit, and savings through a smartphone app.
However, the new USSD code expands access to users without smartphones or reliable internet connectivity.

PalmPay Expands Accessibility with USSD Code
PalmPay’s USSD feature makes banking more accessible in a country where internet outages are frequent. It also allows users to remotely freeze their accounts if their phone is lost or stolen.
“At PalmPay, we aim to bridge the gap in digital access,” said Chika Nwosu, PalmPay’s Nigeria Managing Director. He added that the USSD service enhances security and convenience for customers.
PalmPay has over 500,000 Mobile Money Agents across Nigeria, who assist customers in making transactions. The company’s mobile app has connected 1.1 million businesses to its network.
A third of the company’s users opened their first financial account through the platform, contributing to financial inclusion in Nigeria.
In 2024, PalmPay was recognized by CNBC and Statista as one of the World’s Top 250 Fintech Companies. The company continues to grow through fee-free transfers and special promotions aimed at expanding its market share.
